Good heavens! Is the "machine gun" back??? [For relative newcomers to the
Mac, WAY back in the days of the original Macs (128k, 512k, MacPlus), a
runaway pointer could easily march across system memory and often the first
thing it would hit was the RAM being used to buffer the sound. The machine
would make a rapid stuttering that was called the 'machine gun'.
Occasionally a useful diagnostic...]

I'd run whatever your favorite disk checking utility is and reinstall IE.
However, first of all, does it happen only on one particular site? My
experience is that if it weren't for browsers, I probably wouldn't have had
a single hang/freeze/crash in the last several (perhaps as many as five)
years. Never forget that the Web is the great equalizer, which really means
that any nitwit that *thinks* they can program JavaScript or Java can
proudly post their buggy code, which will promptly crash your browser. So,
if it's only a single site, then it's the site that's causing the problem.
Otherwise, try the advice in the first sentence of this paragraph and see
where that leaves you.
