I love my 1400c upgraded with a Sonnet 333MHz G3. It is a solid performer. I use it 10+ hours a day for developing, surfing, AIM, and email.
The RAM is limited to 64MB. You can use a CF card for virtual Mem which is fast and saves on battery life. I do that when using Photoshop a lot. Most times though I just use virtual mem on the 20 gig drive I installed.
