Just some observations with my powerbook 3400. I have the 4 g drive partitioned into 2: one runs system 9.1 and the other 8.6.
I know some people have found system 8.6 to be faster, but I find system 9.1 more responsive on my 200mhz/144 ram. I even have loaded Speed Doubler 8 on the 8.6 partition to try to get it to be more responsive.
Also, for those who want to listen to music with iTunes, I know there is a patch for version 1.1 to run in 8.6. However, I use the freeware program GrayAMP. I just dragged the playlist from the Documents folder on my system 9 partition to form a playlist in GrayAMP on the 8.6 side, and it performs very well.
