I find system 9.1 more responsive on my 200mhz/144 ram. I even have loaded Speed Doubler 8 on the 8.6 partition to try to get it to be more responsive.
I have a 3400c 240mhz with 144 MB of ram. I run a 32 gig 5400 rpm HD and I have three partitions running the original 7.6 OS, OS 8.6 and OS 9.1. I notice no difference between the three OS's. I hardly never use 7.6 to know how fast it really is...it's just nice having it there to take up some space :) However 9.1 and 8.6 I use daily and I don't notice a difference between the two in terms of speed.
