Hello,
Just some observations with my powerbook 3400. I have the 4 g drive partitioned into 2: one runs system 9.1 and the other 8.6.
I know some people have found system 8.6 to be faster, but I find system 9.1 more responsive on my 200mhz/144 ram. I even have loaded Speed Doubler 8 on the 8.6 partition to try to get it to be more responsive.
Could it be that the OS 9.1 load different extensions related to screendrawing skills ? There are some in 8.6 that will make the 3400 more responsive.
k
