OK, I've read over the comments and have a few more questions.
Bruce mentioned an internal video board replacement that at 8 bucks seems like a great idea, especially with the 10-base-T Ethernet port. My only question on that one is: Is this something that I would be able to do on my own, or should it be handled by someone with more experience (I have a reasonable amount of experience with upgrading WinTel machines)
Laptops or Desktops?
If you have experience working in the guts of a laptop, then it's easy.
If you've got decent hand-eye co-ordination, patience and some aptitude for taking apart complex mechanisms, and putting them back together *and* have them work after, then you can do it. (Can you rebuild a carburetor? No sweat then) (of course, I'm showing my age...most people would say "Carburetor? What's that? Isn't that something they put in cars like the Model T?" ;-)
If not, then I'd leave it to a pro.
A long time ago I wrote a message to this list with the details of how I did it on mine. It was pretty straightforward. I'll see if I can find it, or perhaps some kind soul, more organized than I can repost it.
