You sure this is a color screen? Sure sounds like you're trying to force 
a mono screen to display colors.

What did you buy? An entire display or just an LCD or ??

IIRC, the cable from the LCD to the bottom board is the only LCD-specific 
cable of the trio, each type LCD has its own special cable. The various 
makes (3 different brands IIRC) of active color LCDs each have their own 
special cable as well.
