This must be the elenventy billionth time somebody has asked about wifi on 68k powerbooks! I am the only person I ever met or talked to that actually has wifi on a 68k powerbook (PowerBook 190cs), and I use it all the time. You need to get the card that goes under several names by several companies. The companies are Lucent, Agere, and Proxim so far as I know, and the cards are called WaveLAN or Orinoco cards, depending on which company their made by. They're all the same exact identical card, and all of them will run under the old Lucent WaveLAN drivers that are 68k compatible. You need at least MacOS 7.5.2 to run the drivers for the card. I bought the Proxim Orinoco card brand new a few months ago for like $32 or something at buy.com, then I called Proxim tech support and they directed me to download the old Lucent drivers. It works great, and it is very nifty to see other people's faces when I get a 190cs up on wireless. No PowerPC upgrade required :) The ReadMe that comes with the drivers specifically mentions in name the PowerBook 500 and 190 series computers, so it will work. You just need the PCMCIA cage for the 500 seriesesess. -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
