Dang, you have to ask what I was doing at 3 in the morning, don't you? I remember using the update drivers selection and eventually i initialized the hard drive. But it was late, and I was sleepy, and you get the idea. On a new note, I purchased OS 8.5, which should be on the way here now when I came accross someo comments on low end mac that suggested that OS 8.5 is not all that and a bag of chips. My goal was to upgrade to OS 8.6 because I had read on the apple discussion boards that OS 8.6 was pretty good, especially for older Powerbooks like mine. Any comments/suggestions? Brian
