Which model?

1) LaserWriter I, AKA Plus ... 8 ppm, 300 dpi, Canon CX marking engine,
fixed I/O board.

2) LaserWriter II ... 8 ppm, 300 dpi, Canon SX marking engine,
interchangeable I/O board:

a) NT ... same capabilities as the LaserWriter I
b) NTX ... faster, expandable memory, support for hard disk
c) IIf ... much faster, expandable memory, support for hard disk, PSL2
d) IIg ... much faster, expandable memory, support for hard disk, PSL2,
Ethernet

3) LaserWriter Pro 600 ... 8 ppm, 600 dpi, Canon EX marking engine,
interchangeable I/O board:

a) 600 ... no Ethernet
b) 630 ... Ethernet

4) LaserWriter 16/600 ... 16 ppm, 600 dpi, Canon EX-II marking engine,
Japanese versions have builtin hard disk.

There are others, but the above are at least 8 ppm, have some networking
capability (although not necessarily Ethernet), and have a very low cost per page,
as low as three cents.

The I and II can often be had for free to $5 at curbsides or at flea markets.

I have seen 16/600s for $40 at flea markets.
