I've got a dialup connection with a nominal >speed of 56k, but it always connects at 31.3k or less. I've got a Siemens WiFI router which includes a modem port (serial db-9) for dialup connections, the speed depends on the modem of course. I managed to locate a 56K external serial modem with a db9 cable, and it works remarkably well. It's of course just as fast as any regular dialup (ie: not very fast), but being able to be connected to dialup while anywhere within 100M is pretty nifty.
I have broadband at my house and only bothered to dabble with the dialup thingy because I'll be on vacation for a week with dialup access _only_, and being as I'm now so used to using my 'Books wirelessly I just _HAD_ to make it work. :-) Dan K ................................. http://macdan.n3.net/ carracho://dankephoto.dhs.org:9700 hotline://dankephoto.dhs.org:9500 ................................. -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
