Hi there!

I am new to this list. Please DON'T LAUGH at the following questions - I
never had MAC before...

A few days ago I got a very cheap Powerbook 5300cs because the "original"
user will stay in Hawaii and it'd have been dumped if I didn't get it. My
problem is:
a) where is that damn on/off-switch? I thought it's the two little "buttons"
on the left side... but they don't seem to work.
b) does this work with a missing or defective akku? just as a "stand-alone"
computer
c) if i ever get it to run: what cheap/free software (I go to school...)
would you recommend to do texts and maybe "a little" website-editing; chat
sometimes and have telnet/www-sessions. which leads to...
d) how do i connect this to a switch with RJ45-ports? How to install TCP/IP?

Please don't laugh at me, I am not used to Macs and I've been told that the
machine runs "just fine" most of the time.

Thanks in advance for any help/URLs...
