No way will you ever get that to work, at least not to your satisfaction.
The PB1400 is a sweetheart, but unless you have the 166 MHz version, iTunes
is pretty much a no-go. The 117 is very slow, because the CPU has no L2
cache.

Very badly. Mac OS 9 on less than 64 MB is sluggish, even with a G3
processor.

Unless you're going to swap out the 603e/117 for a G3 upgrade, you might
want to look at something speedier if you're considering it for MP3 playback
and stuff like that. A 3400c is a great choice, and the prices on them are
usually no more than for a good 1400, because the 3400 can't be upgraded to
a G3. The original PB G3 Kanga, which is basically a 3400c with a
factory-installed G3, can also be had fairly cheap these days. And best of
all, I've even seen WallStreets south of $300, which can be upgraded to
faster G3s and G4s and can run OS X.
