Hello kaldav:

I've read that some 1400s need to be "reset" overnight.  Others here
should be able to tell you this better, but you should remove all power
to any computer you plan to work with for at least 1 minute and
preferably 5 minutes.

Your actual problem is probably that the power manager needs to be reset
and you might try to find some way to keep the reset button in overnight.

Alternatively, you can also remove the PRAM battery for 30 minutes along
with the other power sources that you mentioned.
