I'm done. I'm pretty sure that I've finished the installer script correctly.
You can find a patched AirPort 1.3.1 installer at the bottom of the page at: <http://www.alksoft.com/personal/stuff.html>
The installer should install on machines with the gestalt 306, 307, and 311 (PowerBooks 2400c, 3400c, and "Mustang" - presumably the Kanga. Let me know if that's not correct - it's an easy fix). It should also install on OS 8.5 through 9.2.2.
Notably, if you try to install it on a different OS, you'll see a warning saying the installer requires 9.0.4 or better - it doesn't. It really only requires 8.5 or better, I just forgot to change the message before I uploaded the file to my web server.
I should also say that I would like to hear feedback on whether or not it works. I tested it with my Wallstreet under 9.2.2 (I don't have an 8.x machine to test on at the moment) with the gestalt set to 306/7/11 to make the installer think I've got one of the required machines. It worked fine and installed all the right parts.
