from what I've read online, a 540c can't play MP3's. Is this correct? When I re-installed System 7.5, it installed Apple's CD Audio Player. But this is useless to me because I don't have a CD hooked up to the 540c.
You can try MpegDEC 2.5.3 for mp3's. Performs OK on my 540c except for an occasional gap due to slow HD. I've still to try it from an ext. drive 8-)
When I had to wipe the the Hard drive I lost the modem drivers and anything internet related.
The modem is a early model Global Village internal. Beyond that, I don't know much about it.
Try <http://ftp.globalvillage.com> for modem SW, go all of the way thru to disk images for PP500 disk image.
As for internet, I need something like PPP and MacTCP. right?
Try FreePPP 2.6.2, works fine on my machine. The TCP/IP control panel should have been installed with the system.
