I had this same problem. Exact. Many people will tell you to replace the PMU board. I did this. It did nothing. I eventually solved (sortof) the problem by jamming four quarters between the motherboard shield and the bottom case plastics, right under the hard drive. For some rason, this seemed to make the problem go away, unless I gave the 3400c a good jolt. > > Also, there seem to be issues with the motherboard. Another interesting thing is that the modem most > definitely dials out and works, but the ethernet on the same card > doesn't work at all. Thats strange. I have the opposite. My ethernet works, but the modem doesnt. My 3400c is riddled with problems, although it has yet to actually "die" as many PC laptops I had have. So I replaced it with a Wallstreet, upon which I type to you now. The 3400c is an airport software base station now YAY! > > All this has led me to believe that there is a problem with the PMU > board, and possibly with the motherboard as well.
