I need help. I' m very new to Macs. Just got a Wallstreet from eBay. First time I turned it on it didn't get past the OS 9.2 splash screen. Second time it did boot and I launched IE. The some icons on the desktop started to disappear and a message said that my disk was damaged.
Now when I boot I just get a picture of a floppy with a question mark. I do not have OS 9 CD but I do have an 8.5 CD. I put that in but a message comes up with a bomb saying to hold shift and restart.
How can i get this machine back?
sorry if this is a FAQ.

Brian I'm new to Powerbooks but have some experience with desktops so here goes.
Pull the AC and battery. Press the reset button whereever it is on the Wallstreet.
Replug the AC.
Put in your 8.5 disk and try to boot. I think you can press the " C " key to force a boot from the CD If it comes up go to the utilities folder and clik the disk first aid icon. Select the drive icon and run check and repair. Hopefully this will correct any problems.
I f it does not boot from the CD hold down the shift key also to boot with extensions off. then try disk first aid.
