Well after the discussion of auto/airline adapters for my PowerBook and a few suggestions of inverters, I went out to do some looking.

The local CompUSA (yeah, ick - I won't buy from them, by the way) has a few models from Targus and Kensington. They all put out 120V AC at various Wattages (from 50W to 120W).

The local Target has some (hitherto unheard-of by me) Vector brand inverters that output 110V AC at wattages up to something ridiculous like 300W.

So my question to you all is this:
Just how reliable are these devices? Will a generic inverter be reliable enough? 110V isn't a problem (heck, I doubt my household supply is an exact 120V), and the Apple AC adapter will handle down to 100V).

Given that the Vector inverters are easily 1/2 the price of the name brand stuff, I'm leaning towards them.

Unless, of course, inverters are a case of "you pay for what you get."

What do you guys think?

Thanks,
Drew
