So I finally got my Sonnet Crescendo WS/G4 500 today into my 266 wallstreet YAY!
I have some questions: 1: How do I know if AltiVec is enabled? I ask because when I run the AltiVec Test program by Dean Dauger it says AltiVec is "detected" and the pictures fly by, but Final Cut Pro 2 (which I really need AltiVec for) seems mysteriously to be doing things roughly half as fast as my 900mhz G3 tower, when it should I would assume be much closer to par. 2: How do I instlall Panther on this thing? I used XPostFacto in the past, and it worked fine, but now with the G4 it restarts after hitting "Install from CD" in XPostFacto and does nothing, not even a picture, then I have to force restart a few times, after which it boots from the CD just as it normally would and says "Your computer is not OSX compatible." 3: Final Cut Pro 2 is now showing some screen artifacts when playing Sequences. Doesn't prevent me from doing my work but is kind of annoying. I was hoping upgrading to Panther and FCP4 would fix this, unfortunately I cannot figure out the Panther thing.
