Again in this topic.
I did another real world test:
the scroll in page layout of a big Word file with text and images. 11 MB
G2 2GHz biproc. 2.5 GB RAM OSX 10.3.4 Word X: 11"
Kanga 160 MB OS 9.1 Word 2001: 1' 12"
Wallstreet 500MHz 384 MB OS 9.2.2 Word 2001: 44"
Okay, the WS is faster, but less then I expected. And it is interesting to note that the 30" difference are the same between the WS and the G5...
So Kanga : WS = WS : G5 ??????????
This sort of test pretty largely tests the video hardware only; it has very little to do with the CPU.
The G5 was 4x faster than the Wallstreet, while the Wallstreet was only 1.6X as fast as the Kanga. So your second conclusion is wrong as well.
Moreover comparing Word 2001 on OS9 to Word X on OS X is much like comparing apples to goldfish. Both are tasty snacks, but are hardly equivalent.
