You are right, but my point is: we are 10-20% of Mac users, my wife belongs to the other 80-90%...

They don't care about video or CPU tasks: they just want to go to the bottom of the doc (okay there are other ways... to accomplish this task...).

So my point was that for some users and real word use, MHz and video chips aren't enough.

Moreover, since on the G5 I cannot install neither System 6, nor Word 4 I have to compare the most balanced configuration for each system.


This sort of test pretty largely tests the video hardware only; it has very little to do with the CPU.

The G5 was 4x faster than the Wallstreet, while the Wallstreet was only 1.6X as fast as the Kanga. So your second conclusion is wrong as well.

Moreover comparing Word 2001 on OS9 to Word X on OS X is much like comparing apples to goldfish. Both are tasty snacks, but are hardly equivalent.
