>I've done every procedure that Earthlink Support suggests to "resolve the >problem" but to no avail...
Which is why I totally abandoned Earthlink's software after the first, successful home connection, using the modem card, had been made. You make this connection to setup your Earthlink password and to get the Earthink DNS addresses. Also, to get the phone numbers which are local to your likely away sites, although this can be done any time, once you have your home site working. Now, with the account setup properly, at least for your home site, you grab copies of the Modem and TCP/IP control panels and you make these copies your defaults. Subsequent away sites will be cloned from the originals. Also, you make a note of the DNS addresses which Earthlink gave you. Now, when you are away, you clone your Modem and TCP/IP control panels from the original ones, install the new away number, and ensure that the DNS address is correct. Failure to load pages when away is usually related to the DNS address being wrong, which is why you need to get on-line from your home site, using Earthlink's software, just once, and them you grab that DNS address or addresses. You may have to insert "earthlink.net" in the "Search domains" field of the TCP/IP control panel. -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
