Hello,
> Oh my goodness I highly highly highly dis-recommend installing OS 9.1 > on a Duo 2300c. At most install 8.6. I would probably stick to 8.1. :-D > You have to get yourself out of the "newer is always better" syndrome - > for it is very untrue. Especially on a Duo 2300. OS 9.1 yikes! Yes, this is the spirit. Sometimes the older systems are even better ! My "everyday-use" PB is a Kanga with OS 8.6. I switched away from 8.1 cause i needed for using the IrDa with my cellphone. Only found drivers for 8.6. On my others (3400c, 540c, PMac 6100/66AV, Quada 840AV, LC and Umax C900) i always install the original OS. Even my Umax with an additional G3 card runs on its original 7.5.3. It took me nearly a week to manage this :) After i found out that i need to install it with the old 604PPC plugged in and then change to G3 with sonnets drivers it was easy.. And (not meassuring benchmarks) it seems subjective that 7.5.3 ist the fastest system you will ever find for this machine. Although there is a 300MHz G3 with 384 mb memory i never needed any OS 9.x -- +---------------------------------------------------------------+ | () Gruesse/regards [EMAIL PROTECTED] | | /\ Manfred Guentner www.serv.de.eu.org | +---------------------------------------------------------------+ -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
