Bill,
The card you're watching on E-bay looks interesting.
I'd do some checking regarding compatibility though.
You do need a driver and not everyone will provide.

I use a Macally card on my 3400 that I adapted as
described by another subscriber.

I have been impressed with Macally's support.
They sent me the drivers and correspond responsively.

The Macally however is not USB 2.0 compatible
only 1.x. So, might be an issue.

Curiously, you cannot boot or reboot with the card in the slot.
That is to say, you can boot but the card is never recognized.
You have to pop it out and back in when up and running.

The card seems to fit only in the lower slot.
I also use a PCMCIA ethernet card and find that the two
do not fit in simultaneously very well, so I always disconnect to use
my USB printer. Kind of annoying, but workable.

Subject: PCMCIA card for USB ports

Hi Mac Experts,

I would like to buy a PCMCIA card to get USB ports on
my 3400c. Do you know if I normally need drivers to
make it work with my Powerbook? Do I need to make sure
the manufacturer supplies Mac drivers?

I know the other thing to be concerned about is if the
card will physically fit in the slot.

Does anyone have a recomendation for a low cost PCMCIA
card for USB ports for powerbook?

Here's a PCMCIA/USB card on eBay I'm considering. Do
you have any experience with it?

thanks,
