Hello,
I recently picked up a Powerbook 190cs. At first it worked perfectly, and I was scanning the web for upgrades, attachments, software, etc.
I noticed after a few days that the screen was too bright, so I pressed the brightness and contrast buttons to get back to a more viewable level. The brightness control worked fine raising the brightness, but doesn't reduce it. The screen is now washed out -- I can just barely see enough on the screen to see the motherboard is working, but I can't really read it, or manipulate it.
I'd been thinking about getting one of the 5300 upgrades, or getting a RAM upgrade (it's got only the original 8MB on it). Is there a video circuit on the motherboard that would make it worthwhile to spring for the board, or is the video circuit separate? Or is there a simpler fix for the video problem?
Any advice?
