Well, I found a copy of Stuffit5.5, which Allume says will run on 7.5.2. However, it's a .sit file, which the web says is yet another compressed format, so I still can't do anything. Also, apparently most mailers silently convert binaries to .hqx, which is a binhex format. If I can read that, I haven't found any way yet. I don't have any browser, much less IE, on the 190.

I eventually found out that the previous owner had selected the double-click operation to silently start the "recommended application". When I selected the "ask user"option, it turns out that Acrobat Reader was the only system-recommended application for anything not recognized. I still don't know how to change the application association -- even if I had an application that would do the job :-(.
