I don't have any OS8 install disks.  I downloaded the OS8.1 updates, and 
found out later, reading the instructions, that I will have to buy an 
OS8.0 system before I can install it.

In any case, I wouldn't have been able to do anything until I got a 
working copy of a decoder, which only happened a couple of hours ago.
