A 1400 would be exactly what you are looking for. It's on of my favorite Macs and you don't have to be too paranoid about it being stolen either. I have a 1400c/166 I use sometimes when I can just so my AlG4 doesn't get stolen. The G4 kinda attracts attention. And there are lots of 1400's and add-ons for sale. And lots of cool stuff you can get for a 1400. I am not very good at typing, have big clumsy fingers and the 1400's keyboard works good for me and I think it has a better feel than my G4 Powerbook's keyboard.
