<This brings up an interesting question--what do you all prefer for your
backups? CD-ROMS (when you have a machine that can do that), external
drives? Other media? What about online storage services--are they worth
the money?>

My primary backup system is based on my G3: CDRWs which get updated every
two weeks, and Zip disks which get updated as necessary on a daily or
several-times-daily basis.

The G3 is also the primary backup for my 5300c, too. Since I originally
loaded all the apps and data onto the 5300c FROM the G3, if the 5300c had
an accident or whatever that caused me to lose everything on it, the idea
would be to reload everything back from the G3. PITA, but better than
actually losing my apps and data, no? LOL

However, in light of recent events -- dead G3 monitor which has caused me
to use the 5300c as my temporary "main computer" -- I've been making
backups on floppies, so I can transfer to the G3 when it's back online.

Online storage services -- even if I was ridiculously rich and could blow
money on whatever I wanted in any quantity, I would never do this in a
million years. I don't want ANY of my stuff stored anywhere but on my own
computers, CDs, Zips and floppies. It's a privacy thing. Even if I'd need
a password to log in or something and random individuals wouldn't have
this, outsiders (the service's owner, admins, employees) are still
running this show and could gain access if they wanted to. My Macs are my
PERSONAL computers, and I fully intend to keep them that way. Just my two
cents. LOL
