Long story short:
I just upgraded a somewhat beat 1400 with a G3 processor, more RAM and a
bigger hard drive. Pretty basic stuff. It turns out this unit's pcmcia slot
does not seem to recognize the wireless card. It appears to be defective in
that when I push the little button to eject the card - it doesn't eject by
itself at all. I have to actually pull the card out. The 1400 I had to
retire, at least, ejected the card and was usable for internet access.
My question is, anybody ever replace the pcmcia "guts" on a 1400 before? Is
it doable or did I just replace mine with a unit I can no longer use for
internet access.
Tim
The cage can be swapped out and is pretty easy to do once you have
the unit torn down.
