Bev,
There is a short jumper that goes from the battery connector to the
power supply board, I too have had Ian's problem in getting them
seperated, in fact I destroyed one, and in the other 2 cases I gave up
trying to seperate them and resorted to replacement, but replacing the
battery and cable is relitively cheap and easy.

You might do better looking for a new PRAM battery, I believe they
come with the cable you are talking about, if I am thinking of the
right thing. IIRC I bought one for $5 new (maybe it was from OWC or
MacResQ?) a year or so ago.
