I didn't see DHCP, but that doesn't mean it's not there. I'm new at networking a mac on a PC network like this. It shouldn't make any difference since it's ethernet, but then I don't really know much about ethernet either. The "Network guru" said it shouldn't make any difference because ethernet is ethernet and it doesn't care what kind of computer I use. > Could it be an OS issue? You mentioning MacTCP reminded me that there were > differences with older OS's; the earliest OS I have ever wifi'd is 7.6.1. Could > it be that perhaps some PC card extensions are needed? I don't think it would be an OS issue because the card is recognized by the computer. The computer thinks I have a PC card and it will let me change everything to ethernet settings. It could be Netscape, but I don't have a way to get any other browser to try. I live a pretty good distance from any major hub cities, so I'm probably the only person in my county with a mac. I know I'm the only person in this area trying to get on a network with a mac. > >I bought the powerbook and the card off ebay, and I've about decided I > >have a bad card. I don't have any adapters to hook between the card and the network. I have DSL at home and I don't think the mac will even see that. I do appreciate the help and thank you very much for trying. I will try anything anybody suggests, within reason. Thanks, Roy -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
