Just got a Proxim Orinoco Silver card in a swap. No drivers want
to work with it - either in my 1400 or Wallstreet (Orinoco 7.2 and

icon on desktop, etc. No I.D. or firmware version info in any of
the CPs. Did Proxim ever make Orinoco cards that aren't Mac
Compatible? Is there a way to flash the firmware so it will work
with Mac drivers...?

I can't brag about the shape I'm in - I can't sing, I ain't pretty
and my legs are thin; but don't ask me what I think of you - I
might not give the answers that you want me to. Oh well....

Hi I think what might of happened is the person you got the card from
has been using it as an airport card.
I have an orinoco card that i use internally in a G4 tower (with a
little case mod) and with the updated firmware as an airport card in
a system running tiger. It is no longer seen as an 802.11b card in
any of my laptops but works fine in the tower. if you have access to
a g4 tower. with the side door down connect the card to the airport
slot and see if it is seen as an airport card when the mac is running
OSX, If the answer is yes then that is what it has been used for and
is no longer any-good for anything else but will work perfect and is
a-lot more stable than the real airport card's. also a very cheap
alternative. The case mod takes about 15mins with a hack saw and is
not seen from the outside at all.
