I believe it's the refresh rate that was the key element in the problems
you've had
with the Cubig.
I'm certainly no expert on ram, but I do remember a superb explanation of
refresh rates by Kyle Hanson on a LowEndMac list a while ago which helped
me to understand the importance of ensuring that all ram used on any machine
should have the same speed and refresh rate, regardless of whether it was
'supported'
by the computer manufacturer.
