9.1 (and 9.2.1, for that matter) are both free upgrades.
As for updating other software, the only difference I noticed between 9.0.4
and 9.1 was speed and stability (9.1 was superior, in case I'm not clear). I
didn't have a single app break on the switchover to 9.1.
For the original poster, Charles: You should be able to update to 9.1 easily
- you probably could now.
I was using 9.1 before and after upgrading my machine, a PowerCenter 132
with 128 MB RAM, now powered by a Sonnet G3/400/1MB card.
But OS X is another matter. Right now, I'm running a hacked version of
9.2.1. Sonnet says that OS X will be supported on some machines, and are
selling a app to make the install, etc work.
Check Powerlogix's site and see if they have a statement on OS X
compatibility.
