Hi!

Thanks for the advice! The problem is, I have completed low level formats
dozens of times, initialized, and re-initialized - most of the time, the OS
is a fresh install. I have tried OS 8, 8.1, and 9.1, each with similar
instability.

Is it time to put my powertower to rest?

OS 8.0/8.1, 9.1????

Sacha, if you've got a copy of Norton, use it to check for multiple sytem
folders

Sounds like you've got a bunch of different 'personalities' there trying to
gain control of the brain.
Dump the 'finder' from all OS versions not being used, then dump the finder
preference file from the version you decide to keep and reboot.

Cheers...Michael
