FWIW, I generally have to have my TCP/IP control panel set to 'obtain 
address via DHCP'.

Also make sure that you have the appropriate network port specified. 
Sometimes these settings get reset after an OS install.

You also could check the 'options' button and make sure that it's set 
to 'active'
