More than likely you have another problem (I thought I had one once & it
was a dead PRAM Battery). However, I did get a virus once in 1987, on a
floppy someone gave me. I went to the Software development lab to use
their high dollar laser Printer to Print some 60 page RFQ's. The lab was
98% Mac and it caused consternation when the virus was lose amongst
them.

Get Norton Anti Virus 7.0 and Norton Personal Firewall 1.0.2 for
protection and peace of mind.

You would be surprised at how often, the creeps are trying to access
your computer. After installing the firewall, I discovered I was getting
at least one hit per hour.
