Take note Apple's warning concerning the 8.6 upgrade:
"This software may not work on all configurations of Macintosh computers."

Mind you, the PowerBase is an unusual animal, even by Power Computing
standards (I say this affectionately).

It's the only machine they made based on the Alchemy (Mac 6400) board. It's
the only one that calls for EDO RAM. That's not to say that Mac 6400s can't
handle 8.6.

But Apple did caution (rather broadly, I would say) that the road might be
tricky.
