Jim Arnott,

Actually, we have a whole network with hub in the other end of the
house, but when we choose to do the casual diningroom table thing
with our iBooks while snacking or watching TV and having quality
time, it always seems easier to just pass the USB cable the same way
we pass the phone cable for going online. See, we didn't go the
Airport route either and since we are both on the same account it
probably wouldn't let us both be on line at the same time anyway.
Physically swapping the phone line keeps us from accidentally trying
to log in on top of each other.

We don't transfer files that often. For sharing emails and URL info,
we just email each other. How's that for lazy? In fact, with the
really good CD burner in the iBooks and the really cheap discs* we
don't use the ZIP drives as much as we used to. I use them for travel
disks and temporary backups until I burn CDs for the archives.

*My last spindle of 50 CD-Rs was free with one store rebate and one
mail in rebate. the mail in actually arrived in less than four weeks.
Fry's Electronics makes it easy by giving you the forms and
photocopies of the receipt and everything you need for a mail-in
rebate. They won't fill it out and mail it for you though. I know, I
asked them.

Yes, I guess we could use a piece of ethernet cable. It would have to
be wired in reverse on one end wouldn't it? We'd have to be Local
Talk active or something too, right? Hmmmmm, we'll probably just keep
passing the cable since you can do it "hot" without a problem.
