It's inside the P/S but it can be changed. Changing fans on a Power Computing is
a very worthwhile project. Never seen one of their OEM fans go bad, but damn they
are noisy. Go to the archive link at the bottom of the posts on this list. Search
their archives for fan replacement. You'll find lots of detailed articles about
changing fans.

Yup. Just pay attention to the polarity of the old one, so you install the new
one in the same attitude.

Just be sure the Firewire card you choose will work under 8.5.1. A lot of after
market bridge board manufacturers want 9.1 at a minimum since they use Apple's
firewire drivers.  I don't know the number of fans in the Power Base, but three
80 mm fans for my PTP ran me less than $30.00  including shipping. Batteries are
usually in the $5-6 range. External firewire drives range in price all over the
map, depending on the size of drive you. Figure from $100.00-300.00 range for a
firewire, external drive, depending on size.
