Bingo you have hit the nail on the head.
The drive that came with it is apparently suffered a fatal blow durring the
rather crude shipping methods
that were used to get it from Texas to my house in Missouri. Or it may have
been dead before then. It is
making a suspicious "help me I am a dying SCSI Disk noise" .. ie. it sounds
like the drive is seeking but that is
all it does . The noise is in short bursts about 1 sec apart and
consistent. Much like the baracuda performed in
my PC before it died.
That is all fine and good.. because I have a drive to replace it.
I have a Seagate 9.1 GB SCSI-2 Dbl Height Drive which I have set to SCSI ID
0 and No Termination .. same as the dead one.
I have disconnected all of the drives .. (2 1GB jazz drives .. 1 100MB Zip
drive .. 4.9 GB Baracuda 4dl) except the floppy and the
CD-ROM ... and zapped the PRAM
Now here is my problem: (ATTN: Anyone Running Linux on PCC Machine)
I now have the system down to bare minimums. CD-ROM/9.2 GB HDD/128MB of RAM
(normal 512)...
All 512MB passed the Glass Breaking/No Glass Breaking Test.
After inserting the: Yellow Dog Linux 2.2 .. disc in to the drive and
restarting with a power down.
Cmd+Opt+Shift+Del will not boot the machine from the CD... I have a
suspicion that YDL may not be able to boot on this machine because the
drive indicator light comes on for a few seconds after it Chimes .. then
gives me the extremely frustrating "Confused Mac" symbol.

========
I have tried using Cmd+Opt+Shift+Del+1 to force it to boot from SCSI
device 1 .. CD-Rom Device. .. no luck ..
And Yes .. I check to make sure the Daughter Card was properly Seated ... as
well as the RAM ..
(There was nothing in the Cache Slot when I got the System .. should there
be.. I am running MaxPwr G3 333/166)
Looks like I will be spending money on an OS disk for it .. Would love to
get 9.1 so I can get the Multi-User addons and the open-GL tweaks.
Anyone who has a spare system disk from 8.0 thru 9.l let me know I am
interested in getting one.
