Some common troubleshooting tips.

1. Zap pram, which stores information included in the startup process, and
which can become corrupted by inadvertant shutdown. Cmnd-Opt-P-R keys held
down at startup, let machine bong twice, then release.
2. Rebuild desktop, which stores info about organization of files on the
HD. Cmnd-opt keys held down during startup sequence. answer yes when
dialogue box pops up asking if you want to rebuild desktop.
3 Hold down shift key at startup to disable extensions at startup. Useful
if there is an extension conflict. Some functions won't work if extensions
are disabled, by if machine operates otherwise normally, you likely have an
extension conflict.
4. Open system folder, go to preferences and dump 'finder' preference in
trash, then restart.

Try the above if you haven't already done so.
Also, you can remove the Jaz drive, it shouldn't effect the termination issue.

Cheers...Michael
