If the removal of the cache dimm didn't help, and particularly if there is
no chime, then it's more likely that the CPU has gone south James.
Fortunately, the PCP employs removable processor technology, so trying
another in the cpu slot is quite easy.
If there is a used computer shop in your vicinity, try to find a cpu from a
PCP, PowerCenter, PowerTower, PowerWave or PowerTowerPro. They should be
quite cheap ( under $25) these days, as G3 has become such a popular
upgrade.
Of course you can try a G3 card as well if you have access to one for trial.
Also, any 3rd party cpu should work in the PCP (NewerTech, PowerLogix,
Daystar, XLR8)
Unfortunately, Apple branded cards will not work in the PCP, as they do not
have a 'drty' line.
That is because Apple never implemented removable CPU technology on the
7200 'catalyst' motherboard, upon which the PCP is based.
