I just received a Seagate 9 Gig SCSI Hard Drive. My PCP has a 2.0 Gig in it now with OS 8.6 loaded on it. I want to add this second drive, and load it with OS 9. My questions are: 1.) What SCSI number should I set the pins for on a Second Drive? and 2.) Should I switch and put the 9 Gig on the 2 Gig SCSI so it will boot with OS 9? and 3.) Will the same SCSI ribbon cable work for both drives (It has a second connection on that cable)?
I read every post that comes on this list. I want to thank everyone who shares their knowledge, and also thank you to the person that made me aware that this drive was for sale and at Surplus computers. I believe there must be some order in the SCSI numbers, but not sure just what it is. Perhaps someone can see a better solution. I just thought it would be logical to have the largest drive do the booting with the newest OS it would handle. This is not a G3 upgrade, so OS 9 is the highest system I could load. Also would anyone know where I could locate a Zip 100 Internal SCSI to load in this machine? My beige G3 has one and I could transfer larger files between them.
