Kickfire asked this question last December. I now have an answer. My Palm
synched when it felt like doing so, and it was also VERY difficult to
impossible for me to specify certain Excel files I wished to sync via
Documents To Go (Palm software). The solution turned out to be nothing more
or less than disabling all virus checkers when doing any Palm operations.
Nowadays, being lazy, I usually try to sync my Palm pilot with Virex on and
if it works, fine. If not, I turn off Virex and it always works like a
charm. Super easy to sync or do any other Palm operations. Actually, I've
recently upgraded to a new Mac using OS X (instead of 9) but behavior is
exactly the same. Palm tech support gave me this answer and it seems to be
correct.
