I've never had a moment of trouble synching. You do have to turn off Apple
Talk and enable HotSync in the Setup window. My wife's Palm lost all its
data recently, and we were able to restore it perfectly from the backup on
the Mac.

I use Norton Antivirus, and don't have to deactivate it; perhaps this is an
issue with Virex.
