If I recall correctly, PowerComputing machines and maybe even SuperMacs 
shipped with FWB Hard Disk and CDROM Toolkit PE editions. These were 
basically a disk utility that replaced Drive Setup and CDROM toolkit 
allowed support for drives not supported by the current Apple CD/DVD 
extension.

There is a hack on ReseExcellence that may work for you and has worked 
for me in the past.
