My Power Computing 120 (w G3 300 Newer Tech) has had numerous hard drives over the years. Now it has an 18 gig drive that I partitioned into two drives. The first partition is about 2.5 gig and has the OS (8.6) and most software programs. It is formatted HFS. The second partition has the rest of the disk space and is formatted HFS+. The logic for doing this can be found at http://www.macworld.com/1998/04/secrets/4241.html
Recently the second partition is failing to mount. Norton Utilities 5.0 finds major errors it cannot fix. Apple Disk First Aid was able to get it going for a while, and now it balks too. (After Norton crashed while repairing the partition. I am planning to backup the drive and reformat just the second partition, again in HFS+. Is that a good way to go? Should I give up on Norton 5.0 and get something better? I am not happy with it, to say the least. Are others of you partitioning larger drives this way? Please send a copy of your reply to me directly, I am using the digest mode. THANKS! You guys are great!
